June Lorine Day was born to Charles and Nancy Day June 15, 1917 in Stockton, California. Two brothers joined her, Gene and Rene. June met her first husband Stuart Joseph Castillo and they married shortly after on Sept. 8, 1935. Don Stuart Costillo was born July 1, 1936 and his sister, Nancy Rose completed the family on Feb. 19, 1938. She divorced Stuart in 1939. June went to work but stayed with her parents until she met and married Howard G. Davis on July 23, 1942. She was a devoted member of the Community of Christ. June and George Hendricks were married Feb. 17, 1960 in San Jose, California. George’s wife had passed away and he was caring for his teenage daughter, Carol. George passed away July 3, 1983 after a long illness. June moved to Mt. Shasta for about five years and enjoyed the beauty at the base of the mountain. In 1995 June moved to Wichita, Kansas to live with her daughter Nancy and son-in-law Duane. She was a lifelong student of the Bible attending Bible study classes at the Webb Road congregation. June crocheted and knitted beautiful blankets for all her grandchildren and most of the great-grand children. Her family knew her as a strong, independent and self-willed person who made up her mind to always get better after her many illnesses and surgeries. Even when she didn’t feel well, she always had a bright smile. June’s many family members were always close to her heart and on her mind. She is remembered fondly as a pretty lady with a sweet smile. Visitation, Thursday 11 to 8 p.m.,with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services, 1:30 p.m. Friday, both in the Garden Chapel of Watson Reflection Pointe. Burial in Reflection Pointe Cemetery.
