Dunlap, Helen Louise (Bailey), died at 6:25 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, surrounded by friends, family, and loved ones.
Helen was born October 31, 1925 in Bucklin, Kansas. While growing up, she was active in Girl Scouts, Job's Daughters (in which she later would serve as Grand Guardian), and she participated in orchestra, band, and debate. As an adult, she continued her charitable and humanitarian contributions through her membership in Eastern Star, serving as a Girl Scout leader, through helping readers in school, and teaching Sunday School.
Helen worked at the College of Idaho in Caldwell, ID for nine years and at the College of Friends University in Wichita, for five years. She attended Calvary United Methodist Church in Wichita.
She is preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Robert B. Dunlap, who died in April, 1996, and a step-daughter, Noel D. Olson, Boise, ID.
She leaves surviving her three daughters: Jacqueline Louise Earl, Newport, WA; Roberta Sue Nesmith, Evansville, IN; and Dianne Elizabeth Friedenberg, Florissant, MO; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, Eleanor Taylor of Olathe, MO; two brothers, Merle Bailey and Charles Bailey, both of Wichita; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends in Wichita.
A Memorial Service will be held at Calvary United Methodist Church, on Friday April 22, 2005 at 10:30 AM. There will be a reception at the church immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 435 S. Broadway, #100, Wichita, KS 67202 and the Alzheimer's Association, 347 Laura, Wichita, KS 67211. Services are under the direction of Watson's Garden Chapel.
