Esburn Theron James, Jr, son of Esburn T. James,sr and Eleanor A. Titus, was born May 19, 1935 on a farm near Verdon, Richardson Co., Nebraska and passed away at his home north of Derby, Kansas on Oct. 16, 2012 at the age of 77 years. He was married at Hiawatha, Kansas on Nov. 23, 1957 to Joanne E. Curless. They were the parents of seven children, six sons and one daughter, all of whom survive their father. His children are Lane A. James of Wichita, Brian P. James of Andover, Ks., Adam T. James of Derby, Nicholas E. James of Haysville and Mrs. Erin C. Belisle of Derby. He was a retired nurseryman and machinist and loved hunting, fishing and playing baseball. He coached Little League for many years and was a certified baseball umpire. He graduated from Falls City, Nebraska High School in 1954 and served in the US Navy from 1956 through 1960, and was honorably discharged as a 3rd class gunners mate. In 1964 he brought his family to Wichita and worked at Boeing for 6 ½ years, after which he was foreman at Meyers Nursery on S. Hydraulic in Wichita for over 18 years. He loved that job because he always loved farming. He worked in a machine shop until two years ago when he retired. Besides his wife and children, he is survived by 13 grandchildren, one great grandson, 6 step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ervin L. James. Mr. James will be cremated and will have private services at a later time. Memorial donations to the American Cancer Society will be appreciated.
