Collins, James George II “Jim”, age 55, former Vice-President of Griggs Oil Co., Marquee Motorcars owner, managing partner of DSX Media, and entrepreneur, lost his life on Monday, May 12, 2008. The family will receive friends at Watson Funeral Home, 3201 S. Webb Rd. on Wednesday, May 14th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at Chapel Hill Fellowship, 1550 N. Chapel Hill (across from Warren Theater East ) on Thursday, May 15, at 11:00 a.m. Jim was born December 24, 1952, to Jody and J.G. “Rip” Collins in Dallas, TX. He was a graduate of Wichita Heights High School and Western State College, Gunnison, Colorado, where he earned a degree in Business Administration. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Jody Collins. Survivors include wife, Jane, of the home; daughter, Taylor, Denver, CO.; son, James, Dallas, TX; father, J.G. “Rip” Collins, Dallas, TX, sister, Caren Crawford, West Palm Beach, FL, brothers, Kyle (Betsy) Collins, Plano, TX, and Scott (Lori) Collins, Henderson, NV. In-laws include Jack and June Griggs, Nancy Griggs, Ross (Bonnie) Griggs, Rick Griggs, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was fiercely loyal and loving to his family and his friends. He became a fan of horseback riding when his daughter, Taylor, started riding. He embraced Wichita Collegiate football when his son, James, played football. He was a car enthusiast, a fisherman, a cooking and barbecue expert, and a devoted and loving husband and father. Those who had the honor of knowing him feel so fortunate to have had him as their friend. His life was a great gift to many, but none more than to his family.
