Myrna Faye Ashurst, of Derby, KS, went to be with the Lord on December 25th 2013. Myrna was born April 24, 1945, in La Porte, IN, to Willis V. and Wilma Lorene (Eidson) Long. She was absolutely committed to her family, her faith and all whom needed her joyful heart. Myrna had a keen wit and a dynamic sense of humor which always made her fun to be around. She got things done.
Myrna grew up in Springfield, Missouri, where she graduated from Parkview High School Class of 1963. She married her life’s companion, Lonie B. Ashurst on November 26, 1966, in Springfield. Lonie preceded her in death on May 1, 2006.
She is survived by three children; Jill (Todd) Loomis, Sara Ashurst and Brent (Lindsay) Ashurst all of Derby, KS, seven grandchildren: Kelsey and Kylie Loomis; and Elizabeth, Robert, Summer, Keely and Zachary Ashurst, two sisters, Bettina (Ed) Marble and Lorna Mitchell; a brother, Willis Arnold Long; and a brother-in-law Robert (Barbara) Ashurst. Her older brother Robert Long preceded her in death. Myrna owned several small businesses in Kansas,
including Flint Hills Antique Mall of Emporia and Keepsakes and Treasures in Derby. She retired two years ago so she could spend more time with her grandchildren.
Myrna was a woman of strong faith and member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Visitation with family and friends will be from 2 - 4 PM Sunday, in the Garden Chapel of Watson Reflection Pointe, 3201 S. Webb, with funeral services 1:00 PM Monday, Calvary Baptist Church, 1636 E. Patriot Ave., Derby, KS 67037. Burial will follow in
El Paso Cemetery in Derby.
