Mercer, Edward L., age 84. passed away August 30, 2014, at the Kansas Veterans Home, Winfield. Born July 11, 1930 in Emporia, KS to David and Grace (Carey) Mercer. He served in the U. S. Army 7th Cavalry Div, Infantry, seeing combat in the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. He worked for 17 years at Didde-Glasser, then Sauder Tank until 1979, when he and his second wife, Audrey moved to Florida. After her passing in 1999, he moved to El Dorado, then Wichita and finally for the past year, to the Kansas Veteran's Home in Winfield. Was preceded in death by brothers David JR and Robert (Bob). Survived by his loving family, son, Edward L. Mercer JR and his wife Lori, daughter, Christine A. Sullivan and husband Michael, both of Emporia, daughter, Roxanna Mercer, Wichita, 5 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren. Ed will be cremated and memorial services will be held Thursday, 11:00 AM, in the Garden Chapel of Watson Reflection Pointe, 3201 S. Webb Rd., Wichita. Share memories of Ed at watsonfuneral.com
