Larnard Smith

Smith, Larnard, 88, went home to be with his personal Savior on Friday, May 29, 2015. He was born May 15, 1927, to Thomas Jefferson and Lela Selina (Dunn) Smith in Tryon, OK. Larnard was a WWII Navy Veteran, stationed at Pearl Harbor. He and his wife, Ilean, owned Larnard Smith Insurance Agency and were very active in the industry, winning numerous national awards. Larnard was a big fan of the Wichita State Shocker Basketball program and held season tickets for nearly 60 years. He was an active church member and enjoyed teaching Sunday school and Bible study classes. Larnard was a founding board member of the Webster Conference Center in Salina, KS. He loved his Lord, his family, his church family, traveling, fishing, and was very much a people person. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters; son, Jimmy Leon Smith; and great-grandson, Tristin McLaughlin. Larnard is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ilean Smith; children, Jerry (Vicki) Smith and Carolyn (Dale) Elmore; daughter-in-law, Debra Smith; grandchildren, Jermey Majors, Misty Majors, Andrew Smith, Ory Smith, Anna McLaughlin, Nathan Elmore, Lydia Cress, and Leah Smith; and 8 great-grandchildren. Visitation: Wednesday, 1 to 8 pm with family present between 5 and 7 pm at Reflection Pointe Funeral & Cremation Services, 3201 S. Webb Rd., Wichita, KS 67210. Funeral: 10 am, Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Faith Baptist Church of Andover. Interment to follow at Reflection Pointe Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 417 W.
