Marjorie Melvina Russell, age 83, passed away Monday, February 9, 2009. A Service of Remembrance is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2009, 10:00 a.m., St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Derby. A Rosary will be held Friday evening March 6 at 8:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest in the Westmoreland Cemetery, Westmoreland, Kansas.
Marjorie was born March 27, 1925 in Westmoreland, Kansas, daughter of George and Emma Mayer. During WWII she met and married Everett Frank Russell. In 1952 they built a home in Derby. Marjorie worked in the cafeteria at St. Mary’s school and drove a bus for the Derby School System until retirement.
Marjorie’s survivors include her children, Everett Frank Russell, Jr. of Fort Peck, Montana, Linda Myers of LeLoup, Nebraska, Sandra Shook of Peck, Kansas, John Russell of Derby, Anthony Russell of Derby, brother, Ken Mayer of Westmoreland, 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, 347 Laura, Wichita, 67211, or the Kansas Humane Society, 4218 Southeast Blvd., 67210.
