Surrounded by her family, the Lord welcomed Beverly Grieve, age 81, home on March 10th, 2009. She died from surgical complications and went peacefully into the arms of Jesus. Beverly Grieve, formerly of Mulvane, Kansas, was born on August 29, 1927 to Lucille and Arthur Peterson of Omaha, Nebraska.
On August 7, 1943, Beverly married the love of her life, W. George Grieve with whom, she shared the next 58 years until his death in November 2002. Their love produced eight children, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Two children proceeded her in death, Benjamin Eugene in 1952 and Robert Arthur in 2004.
She is survived by Gwen Parsley of Wichita, Kansas, her son Bill Grieve of Peoria, Arizona; Tammy Sims of Winfield, Kansas; Marie Vanderpool of Fort Worth, Texas; Elizabeth Grieve of Edwardsville, Kansas and Patty Grieve Newkirk of Shawnee, Kansas. Her grandchildren include Stacy, Jenny, Greg, Brian, Robyn, Kristi, and Ryan and her great grandchildren include Lexy, Jenna, Avery, Reagan, London, Ali.
Beverly demonstrated a zest for life in spite of her many physical infirmities. Her greatest enjoyment was time spent with family and friends, to whom she expressed her Christen faith through her cooking, sewing, and scrap books. Beverly had a life long appreciation for learning and new experiences. She was an avid reader with a love of words and language, which she imparted to all of her children. She loved new experiences so traveling and trying new foods was something she truly enjoyed.
Beverly will always be remembered for her bright smile, loving heart and devoted Christian faith. She had a sense of pride, dignity, and self-reliance. With her passing, she will make heaven a brighter place with her smile.
She was well known in Mulvane as the “Avon Lady”. Avon provided Beverly the opportunity to be a highly successful business woman, which provided her national recognition.
She is whole and healed in God’s loving presence, reunited with her beloved husband, and surrounded by friends and family who preceded her. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday, March 14th,, 2009 at the Watson Funeral Home at 3201 South Webb Road, Wichita, Kansas 67210. Funeral services will be held at Watson Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, March 15th, 2009 at 2:00 pm with grave side services to follow at the Mulvane Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next her husband and sons.
