Richard G. “Dick” Knowles, 69, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016. He was born November 7, 1946 in Ada, OK. He grew up, worked, and resided in Wichita and El Dorado. Richard was a sweet, kind, caring, good-hearted, and loving man. He joined the Navy in 1972 and served on the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam War. He then joined the Army in 1975, retiring in 1999. Richard was a true patriot and a proud veteran. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Washburn University and then his Juris Doctor from The President’s Law School in Wichita. Richard worked in a land and title business and was the past president of the Kansas Land & Title Association. Later he worked as a certified residential real estate property appraiser. He enjoyed fishing and both archery and rifle destination hunting. Richard was a man of his word, a hard worker, and a noble gentleman. He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Knowles. Richard is survived by his wife of 13 years, Sofhia; mother, Jo Knowles; children, Kerrie, Brandon, and Kellie; sisters, Debbie (Larry) Sutherland and Cindy (Mike) Ellington; 4 nieces; 4 nephews; 5 great-nephews; and extended family in Peru and Spain. Richard’s family will always cherish his memory. Visitation: Monday, 1 to 8 pm with family present between 5 and 7 pm. Funeral: 12 pm, Tuesday, September 13, 2016 with a Rosary preceding the service at 11:30 am; all at Reflection Pointe Funeral & Cremation Services, 3201 S. Webb Rd., Wichita, KS 67210.
