Pankey, Mary Jane (Tyson), 72, retired Realtor, died Thursday, June 15, 2006. A visitation with the family will be held from 4-5 PM Sunday, June 18, in Watson’s Garden Chapel. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, at Central Christian Church, 2900 N. Rock Road. The family will greet guests following the funeral service. Interment will follow at Reflection Pointe Cemetery, 3201 S. Webb Rd.
Loving, Inspirational, Blessing, Amazing Cook and Role Model. These are just a few words that describe Mary Jane. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Everyone was a friend to Mary Jane. She lived her life with steadfast faith, generosity, integrity, and service to others. Her positive attitude while battling cancer was an inspiration to friends and family. She truly believed that all things are possible through Christ.
Because of her love for children, Mary Jane was a PTA President, a Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader, Awana Leader, and Bible Study Fellowship children’s leader. She was a volunteer for her church, Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity, Wichita Board of Realtors, and Big Brothers/ Big Sisters. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Mary Jane had been in residential real estate sales for more than 25 years. She was well known for her integrity and customer concern. The honors garnered during her career include being recipient of the WAAR “President’s Club,” and “Master Circle” Awards. She received the”Distinguished Service Award” 1991 and the Bob Struble Spirit Award in 2005.
Everyone who spent time with her will miss her. We will mourn her loss, we will celebrate her new life and we will cherish her memory. Mary Jane was an active member of Central Christian Church. Preceding her in death was her mother, Anne (Fagerquist) Tyson. She is survived by her beloved husband, Riley Pankey; children, Kim (Dan) Sullivan, Wichita, Tamara (Andrew) Engel, Seattle, WA, Steve (Janet) Pankey, Wichita; sister, Barbara (Gene) Kading, San Diego, CA; brothers, Phil (Joyce) Tyson Duluth, MN, Marvin (Marcia) Tyson, Wichita; grandchildren, Jason and DeAnne Sullivan, Brandon Sullivan and fiancé Katie McAtee, Kristin Pankey, Michelle Pankey, Hans Engel; great grandchildren, Brayden and Kynadee Sullivan; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
