Schmidt, Ila, age 81, homemaker and ret. accountant, passed away at her home on Saturday, June 24, 2006. A Memorial Gathering with family and friends will be from 2 – 4 PM Sunday, July 2, 2006, in the Garden Chapel of Watson Funeral Home. Ila was born on June 18, 1925, in Coffeyville, KS, to John and Viola (Wolford) Paulk. Her first husband, Paul Miller, was a WW II pilot in the US Army Air Corps and was shot down in 1944. On June 10, 1951, in Coffeyville, KS, she married Dr. Claude Schmidt, who survives her. They lived in Waukesha, WI until 1992, when they retired to Los Alamos, NM. They moved to Wichita in 2003 to be with their children Greta (Christopher) Perleberg, of Wichita, Martha (Robert) Asaph, of Chilliwack, British Columbia, Karl (Norma) Schmidt, of Lawrence, KS, Kurt (Laura) Schmidt, of Wichita, KS. She is also survived by a brother, John E. Paulk, of Seabeck, WA, sisters, Selda Grauerholz, of Coffeyville, KS, June Barelli, of Leawood, KS and 10 grandchildren.
