Cheek, A. Catherine Adams, 82, born Sept. 1, 1927, peacefully passed away Sun. March 7, 2010 at her home. Her daughter, Lynn Adams Elder, her 1st husband, Lowell P. Adams Sr., and her 2nd husband, James Cheek, preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving sons, Lowell P. Adams Jr. of Tampa, FL, Stanley B. Adams of Victoria, MN, daughter Jeanne C. Adams of Wichita, KS; her 4 grandchildren, John W. Burns, Ashlyn Rozell-Anziana, Christopher L. Adams, and Isaac M. Adams; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was a well-known violinist and violist having played in many orchestras including the Wichita Symphony, Mid-Kansas Orchestra, Hutchinson Symphony, and Friends University Community Orchestra of which she was Concert Mistress for many years. Horses and equestrianship was another passion; she spearheaded the chartering of Meadowlark Pony Club, an organization that teaches safe, competitive English horsemanship for children under the age of 21 and was District Commissioner for the 1st several years. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 1 PM Sat., March 20th at Grace Presbyterian Church, 5002 E. Douglas. A memorial has been established with the Wichita Symphony Society with the youth orchestras in mind.
