WICHITA
Wittenborn, Charles Gene, 86, electrical engineer, passed away, Friday, March 19, 2010. The visitation with family greeting friends will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, in the Garden Chapel of Watson Reflection Pointe, 3201 S. Webb Rd, with services scheduled Saturday, March 27, 10 a.m. at Countryside Christian Church, 1919 S. Rock Rd. Charles was born in Towanda, KS to Charlie Gottlieb and Gwendola (Lee) Wittenborn on August 20, 1923. He served in the US Navy Submarines during WWII. On June 6, 1953 he married Dorothy Marie Gilmore in Wichita. Charles worked for KG&E from 1950-1958 and retired from Boeing after 30 years. He also sang in a barbershop quartet; was a Boy Scoutmaster; tutored English at the Catholic Charities; taught circuitry and air conditioning at Wichita Technical School and taught Sunday school. He is survived by his wife Dorothy of the home; son David (Anne) Wittenborn of Antelope, CA; daughter Kathryn (Gary) Foster of Bel Aire, KS; brothers Roy (Aileen) Wittenborn of Arkansas City and Albert Wittenborn of Eugene, OR; sister Irma Hinson of Arkansas City; five grandchildren David (Angela) Foster, Laurissa (Jason) Palmberg, Daniel (Erika) Wittenborn, Jennifer Archuleta, Elisa Foster; four great-grandchildren Jessalyn & Jaiden Foster, Andrew & Alexander Palmberg. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Edna Zollo.
