Dewey O. Inman, 77, formerly of Cheraw, died at his home in Wichita, KS. Dewey was born in Laurinburg, N.C. June 21, 1933 and went on to join his late wife, Brenda G. (Carpenter) Inman, with the Lord on Oct. 15, 2010. He was born to the late Mr. Van Buren Inman and his wife, Pearl Edwards Inman.
Dewey was raised in Laurinburg and in 1951 he joined the United States Air Force. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. While serving his country, he earned a degree in Radiologic Technology at L.A. University and worked in that field upon his discharge. He spent many years with the Duke Hospital System in N.C. and finished his career at Chesterfield General Hospital in Cheraw.
Dewey was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Brenda G.(Carpenter) Inman of Cheraw, one sister, Lois Inman Boyles-Whitfield and one brother, Norman Van Inman.
He is survived by one brother, Alan Inman of Laurinburg, N.C., two sisters, Peggy Inman Turner of Raleigh, N.C. and Joyce Inman Browning of Biglerville, PA.
Additional survivors include his five children, Sherry (Pete) Alleano, Barry D. (Ilona) Inman, Charles D. Carpenter II, Mary E. (Tim) O’ Shields, and Melinda S. (Harvey Brown) Bruner, ten grandchildren, Sean Paul Di Ninno, Katie A. De La Cruz, Ryan P. Alleano, Isabella A. Inman, Davian F. Inman, Charles (Chad) Carpenter, Christopher B. Carpenter, Brandi (Lloyd) Barnett, Marissa L. Pierce, Michael “Rhen” Bruner , and seven great grand children. He also had many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Memorial services will be at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church on Hwy 9 N. in Cheraw S.C. at 1:00pm on Thursday October 21, 2010.
