HM1 Joel D. Windle, 33, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023.
Joel was born August 22,1990 in Everett, Washington. Raised in Washington and Montana, Joel developed a love for the outdoors. His love led to traditional hobbies of homesteading, including blacksmithing with his father, which developed into a lifelong desire to forge blades and jewelry of incredible artistic talent. His dedication to the service of others carried him from being a first responder as an Emergency Medical Technician, Pharmacy Assistant and Certified Nurses Aid at an Oncology Clinic, to his current educational training aspirations of becoming a Chaplain in the United States Navy. In 2022, Joel accomplished his dream of becoming a US Marine Corpsman, and was posted to the McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas in 2023. Well respected by his colleagues, Joel served honorably and supported many as they prepared for their own service to the country. His kind and generous heart, and servant leadership style are true to Joel’s character; he made sure to provide for those around him in every way he could.
Joel was a devoted Christian; faith was an essential part of his life. We believe his lasting invitation to all would be to turn to Jesus and have faith guide all your decisions. Joel was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mel and June Byers. He is survived by his wife of 7 years, Fiona and children, Jeremiah (4 years) and Zoe (21 months). As well, he is dearly missed by his parents, Doug and Reneé Windle, siblings, Jesse Windle, Josiah (Kelsey) Windle, and Catie (Caleb) Ness and his grandparents, Jerome and Shirley Windle.
His family has organized a memorial service to honor Joel’s life, which will be held at Reflection Pointe Funeral and Cremation Services, Wichita Kansas on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to his children, at
