James L. "Jim" Martin, 80, of Wichita, KS, a retired electrical engineer and forensics consultant, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024. As a born-again Christian, Jim was eager to be welcomed to his Heavenly home and hear his Father say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
Jim was born in Norwood, MO, December 21, 1943. He married the love of his life, Rosemary (Willard) Martin, and they recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. They raised their family grounded in faith, with a home full of love and laughter. In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his daughter, Susan (David) Wilson; son, Steve (Nancy) Martin; three granddaughters he absolutely adored, Hallie, Hannah and Elle; and a multitude of extended family and dear friends. Jim was preceded to Heaven by his parents, Vernon and Elouise (Ussery) Martin; and his two brothers, Vern “Marty” Martin, Jr. and Jack L Martin.
Jim graduated from WSU in 1967 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. In 1977, he and Rosemary started their own company, and for 45 years they worked side by side to build their electrical consulting firm. In 1984, they partnered with their son, Steve, to launch their Quarter Horse business on their small family farm in Derby, KS, and in his down time, Jim, a master handyman, enjoyed spending time with Steve designing, building, repairing and keeping the farm running.
