Nguyễn Văn Mạo, 86, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023. He was born February 18, 1937 to Nguyen Van Phong and Nguyen Thi Tam in Bien Hoa, Vietnam.
Mao was an officer for the South Vietnamese Army and fought along side US troops in the Vietnam War. He brought his family to America in 1989 to provide a better future for his children and wife. Mao enjoyed spending time with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always loved cooking a big pot of pho for everyone to come and eat.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nguyen Kim Dung; and son, Nguyen Xuan Thanh. Mao is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dong Thi Nam; children, Nguyen Xuan Vinh (Nguyen Thi Tuyet), Nguyen Thi Vinh (Hoang Quy Tho), Nguyen Xuan Ranh (Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nhung), Nguyen Xuan Oanh (Nguyen Thi Phung), Nguyen Thi Kim Duyen (Smith J. Parker), Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Nguyen Xuan Ky, Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen (Phan Van Quy), and Nguyen Thai Hoang; sister, Nguyen Thi Thuy; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, March 6, 2023, from 3 to 8 pm, Tuesday, March 7, 2023, from 9 am to 8 pm, and Wednesday, March 8, 2023, from 9 am to 8 pm at Reflection Pointe Funeral & Cremation Services, 3201 S. Webb Rd., Wichita, KS 67210. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 am, Thursday, March 9, 2023 at All Saints Catholic Church, 3205 E. Grand St., Wichita, KS 67218. Cremation to follow at Reflection Pointe Crematory.
