Nou Dabandons, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, 93, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023. He was born December 3, 1930 to Xieng Da and Mao Dabandons in Salavan, Laos.
Nou was a colonel in the Royal Lao Army until 1975. When he moved to the United States in 1994, he began his career as a social worker for the U.S. Immigration Service in Wichita, which lead to an abundance of opportunities to make lifelong friends. Nou enjoyed traveling, reading about history and spending time with his family and friends. He was a talented calligraphist and artist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; first wife, Saysamone; and son, Brian Noel Dabandons. Nou is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bonnie Dabandons; children, Sidsery Dabandons, Direk Dabandons, Krisna Chanbouathanh, Attaphimphone Xayasouk, Mounsena Dabandons, Calvin Dabandons, Manolom Souvannaphousith, Tara Xaypanya; and Dola Dabandons; 26 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Thursday, December 28, 2023 and Friday, December 29, 2023, from 4 to 7 pm. Traditional Buddhist Service: 1 pm, Saturday, December 30, 2023, all at Reflection Pointe Funeral & Cremation Services, 3201 S. Webb Rd., Wichita, KS 67210.
